Location:
BASF SE, Ludwigshafen
Working hours:
full-time
Contract type:

What you can expect:
Our Operations Research Team provides BASF-wide quantitative decision support for multiple application areas, based on mathematical optimization. This is comprising detailed operational scheduling, tactical demand planning as well as strategic network planning. You will be actively involved in a research project including the development of a discrete mathematical network model, data collection and verification as well as simulation of world-scale scenarios. An important part of the project is a strong collaboration with the OR group at BASF and your university. Therefore, you will work for the university as a postdoctoral researcher while spending the first year at the BASF headquarters in Ludwigshafen and afterwards in China or another Asian country. This arrangement allows you to gain experience in an industrial and academic work environment and establish contacts for a possible future career in both fields.
What we expect:
You have successfully completed your PhD in Economics, Industrial Engineering or Mathematics. You have a profound background in discrete optimization and experience with mixed integer optimization applied to real world problems. As a creative and motivated team player, you are able to communicate your scientific research results to an interdisciplinary team. Ideally, you have Chinese language skills and already gained international experience in an Asian country.
We offer:
Responsibility from day one in a challenging work environment and "on-the-job" training as part of a committed team. Co-operations within Asian countries in intercultural teams.
