Activities in China
By both import and local production, BMW has introduced all product series to Chinese market including 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, X, Z, M series as well as MINI and Rolls-Royce brands. In the year of 2010, BMW China has sold more than 168.988 cars in China. Raising sales figures by 86,7% China has become the 3rd largest market in BMW’s global sales network. In September 2003, the BMW Group expanded its international production network with a plant in Northeast China. The plant, a joint venture between the BMW Group and Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Ltd., produces vehicles solely for the local market and contributes to developing and penetrating the Chinese market. In the year 2012, together with its long-term joint venture partner Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Ltd., BMW Group established a second plant in Shenyang: Tiexi plant, which is one of the most innovative and flexible automotive plants in the world.
